A mashup of deli.cio.us and MyMaps

Thinking of having meta info about the resources like the tags would be an ideal way of organizing the resources. One can then perform searches on tags and would be able to visually locate the resources. The zones could be tags and it's just a temporary view. Appears like an application needs to be created. I'll ponder on how quickly something can be implemented.

Where is my @#$%^& file?

We are so accustomed to the folder view that Microsoft has instilled in us that we have trained our heads to find and organize in folders which no doubt works but is there an easier way or a creative way?
Living in the mashworld of today, MyMaps from Google does appear to give us a viable alternative in organizing our resources, be it files or urls. Microsoft also has a similar product called LiveMaps that I haven't experimented yet. Doing bookmarks is fine but organizing them in folders is not very easy once you hit the100+ mark. I often use the 7 X 7 X 7 ... principle where if the items are more than 7 then it needs a hierarchy. Long ago in a Human Interaction discussion I came to know that most of us can remember 7 items easily.
The idea here is to organize your resources (URLs) in a map such that the lower hierarchy or subfolders are not visible. The way I'm organizing that is to have legends contain the urls in the name and locate them in a place that makes it easier for me to locate. One thing that would help is to come up with large icons instead of the default provided with MyMaps as it needs to standout. The color of maps also makes it vibrant and adds color to the otherwise bland world of files and folders. The Line feature of MyMaps allows you to link your silos in a meaningful way, like in Artic region I can define my old archives and in Antartic I store the more recent archives but since they are archives so are related and is defined by a line linking these two silos.
How do you group a number of related files together? In Artic silo we can define a shape by connecting dots and the effect is a blue shadow as an overlay. So all the legends in the artic region would be covered by this shape.
It's a fascinating way of organizing your information and you don't need to rely on different browsers on different m/cs and the most important a scalable solution. Sharing in this Web2.0 generation is already provided in MyMaps so I'm going to experiment this right away. What do ya think?
